DR. SUN YAT-SEN CLASSICAL CHINESE GARDEN
Join a lively lantern procession through the streets of Strathcona and let the drums of Dragon River Music lead you to a magical evening at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden. Celebrate the Chinese winter solstice, dong zhi, which marks the rebirth of the yang qualities of light and energy. See enchanting displays of hand-made lanterns by some of Vancouver’s best lantern artists including Joey Mallett, Nels Holm, Yoko Tomita and Lena Tan. Explore the Children’s Lantern Courtyard featuring lovely and whimsical lanterns made by young hands.
A Winter Shadow Garden – Community Project

FREE workshop drop in 11:00am – 3:00pm
Get involved before the festival and work with local artist Sharon Kallis to create a gorgeous leaf tapestry made of natural materials collected from the winter landscape. No artistic experience necessary. The leaf tapestry will be on view as a part of the Winter Solstice Lantern Festival, Friday December 21st.

Due to the funding shortfall the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden will be open as usual and filled with lanterns but the Park next door will be closed.
