Opportunities abound before, during and after so please read through the list below and see where you think you'll have the most fun. Please note that a full description of tasks will be available once you are signed on for a specific neighbourhood.
1) PRE-FESTIVAL: VOLUNTEER LANTERN-MAKING
Roundhouse Community Centre, Daily Dec 10 - 19, 12-8pm
Throughout December you can learn how to make lanterns for FREE, work with artists and help with a variety of workshop tasks - no experience necessary! Drop in anytime between the hours listed above.
Are you interested in learning how to create, decorate, and facilitate a magical labyrinth made of 700 pure beeswax candles? Then come and learn from our master labyrinth creators and become an essential part of the Winter Solstice Lantern Festival!

2) THE DAY BEFORE THE FESTIVAL: DECEMBER 20
Please register to volunteer to help create the magic by setting up a venue in your preferred location. Tasks include hanging fabric, lanterns and lights, creating beautiful décor and generally preparing the spaces for the celebration to come!
3) FESTIVAL DAY and NIGHT: DECEMBER 21
Enjoy solstice by helping with this community celebration! Tasks include setting up lantern installations, creating one of the 2 Labyrinths, serving hot chocolate, leading a procession, or celebrating the longest night by staying late to help clean up. Please register to volunteer.
4) THE DAY AFTER THE FESTIVAL: DECEMBER 22, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Enjoy the afterglow! We would LOVE to have you come help pack away all the magical bits and pieces at any of our venues or help get them organized at Secret Headquarters (home of the Secret lantern Society). Please register to volunteer.
